Enterthedatabaseservicename.Inaddition,selectaConnectionType,eitherSharedorDedicated.Ifyouareunsureorwouldliketousethedefaultdatabaseconnectiontype,selectDatabaseDefault.ClickNext.

Thelastpageofthewizardenablesyoutotesttheconnectionusingtheinformationyouentered.

TheCreateNetServiceNamegeneralpageisdisplayed.EnteranameintheNetServiceNamefield.IntheDatabaseInformationsection,configureservicesupportbyenteringadestinationserviceandselectingadatabaseconnectiontype.IfthedestinationserviceisanOracle8iorlaterreleasedatabase,thenselectUseServiceName,andenteraservicenameintheServiceNamefield.IfthedestinationserviceisanOraclerelease8.0database,thenselectUseSID,andenteranOracleSystemIdentifierforaninstanceintheSIDfield.Thenscrolldowntothebottomofthepage.IntheAddressessection,configureprotocolsupport.ClickAdd.

Note:IfyouareperformingthistaskonthesamemachinethatyouconfiguredlocalnamingusingNetManager,besuretoenteradifferentnameintheNetServiceNamefield.
